Watching the television has been known to promote a sedentary lifestyle and weight gain. 

A number of studies have shown that the more time you spend watching TV, which is characterized by overweight. However, experts are now saying that what you watch can also have an impact on the amount of calories you consume. Participants in a study were found to consume more food when watching television shows which are more distracting such as action flicks, in comparison to watching a slower-paced programme like an interview. The reason behind this is the fact that the more distracting a TV programme is, the less people tend to focus on what and how much they are eating.
